I woke up this morning after four and a half hours sleep and thought I was tired. Then Liz walked in and said she only got one hour of sleep. Time to get through another day with a serious lack of sleep. And a potentially cranky co-worker.

We are certainly not alone. I can't remember the last time I heard somebody in the Garden State say,"Wow, I got WAY too much sleep last night". It just doesn't happen. We have much too much on our schedules and on our minds to even hope for 8 hours of sleep.

I know what the experts say. You need eight hours a night for a thousand reasons but after a while all you hear is blah, blah, blah. Not because you don't believe it or don't want to do it, but because there's no way it will ever happen. No way. How sad is that?

There are tricks to make you look like you slept more, according to msn.com, but I'm still waiting for someone to give us some advice on how to actually get more sleep. We have experts to help us coordinate bank accounts, weddings and financial portfolios. We have consultants telling us how to be more efficient at every place from work to the supermarket. But where are all the "time management experts" or "sleep hour budget consultants", or whatever they would call themselves.

Hey, that's sounds like a smart business to start. It's a shame I'm too tired to start it.
