Garden State’s Most Popular Last Name

If you live in New Jersey and you've been keeping up with the Jones's, you may have been trying to keep up with the wrong family.

Jones is not the most common last name in the Garden State. As a matter of fact, Jones is not even in the top 3, according to 24/7 Wall St.  So which last names top the list in our state?

Here's a list of the top 3 last names in New Jersey, with the approximate number in parenthesis.

Smith (75,000)

Rodriguez (58,000)

Brown (58,000)

By the way, if you are wondering where the Jones's are, you can find them at #5 nationally, according to the U.S. Census. And yes, Smith is also the #1 last name nationally as well. And a few years back we reported that Smith was also the top last name in Monmouth County.
