Every state has a hidden gem to offer, and one publication found one in New Jersey that you may have never heard of.

The website Espresso listed the best hidden gem in each state, reported at msn.com, and for New Jersey, they went so far north and west, it's barely in the Garden State. As a matter of fact, it's a little over 100 miles from Belmar.

So what is New Jersey's hidden gem? Have you ever been to Buttermilk Falls in Layton? What and where now? I honestly had never heard of it, but I guess that's what makes it a hidden gem.

Layton is in Sussex County, and Buttermilk Falls is one of the highest waterfalls in all of New Jersey. There are also great trails like the Appalachian National Scenic Trail. Maybe that's why I never heard of it.

My idea of a hike is when they raise the tolls or when I get a bad parking spot at the mall. That explains a lot. And for the record, my idea of a hidden gem is a parking spot less than a block from the boardwalk in July.

But this sounds like a great place and if you love the Garden State and don't mind the ride, it sounds like a beautiful place. so, check out Buttermilk Falls and all the area has to offer.
