Hubbard’s Bridge in Red Bank to Close January 2nd
Luckily it won't happen until after the holidays, but drivers into and out of Red Bank should prepare for a bit of a travel headache...for a few months.
The Hubbard's bridge on West Front St. over the Swimming River between Red Bank and Middletown will close on (or about) January 2nd, as the final stages of work on the replacement bridge are completed.
West Front St. will be closed from Rector Pl./Shrewsbury Ave. to Hubbard Ave. for approximately 4 months.
As someone who drives over that rickety bridge everyday, I'm glad it's finally being replaced, but it's going to be an inconvenience for sure!
The detour will likely send eastbound drivers north up Hubbard Ave., making a right on Navesink River Rd. which leads to Rt. 35. You can take Rt. 35 south to get back to Front St. (Westbound drivers can do the same thing in reverse, with a jughandle turn thrown in for good measure.)
When coming off the Parkway at exit 109, be aware that taking Half Mile Rd. will bring you directly to this new detour. As an alternate, take Rt. 520/Newman Springs Rd. eastbound and turn left at Shrewsbury Ave., which leads to Front St.
The good news is, when the work is all completed, it will hopefully look much nicer, and be easier to drive and walk across. Yet another reason I can't wait for May!
