Do you know the state candy of New Jersey? Well, if a group of Sayreville 5th graders get their way, it will be salt water taffy.

The six kids with the great idea are from Samsel Upper Elementary School in Sayreville and they will go before the Assembly Tourism, Gaming and the Arts Committee, along with  Assemblyman John Wisniewski (D 19th District), to lobby for the bill, according to app.com.

When I heard about this, my first reaction was, "it's not already...it should be." If there was ever a candy that would be perfect as our state candy, I think salt water taffy is definitely it! Good luck to the kids with this sweet idea!
