New Jersey Pet Peeve Of The Week – Drive-Thru Stoppers
If you live in New Jersey and use the drive-thru regularly, you may still find some people who don't know how to use it.
Things That Can Mess Up The Drive-Thru
There are rules about the drive-thru, and we should all know them. Just as an example, don't you think it would be a good idea to know your order, or at least decide on it while you're waiting, not when you get to the speaker?
But that's a pet peeve for another day. Today's drive-thru pet peeve doesn't have anything to do with the drive-thru. It's what you do after the transaction.

There is some controversy about this one, and I have a theory that may make sense to you. I'm talking about the drive-thru stopper. That's the driver who pulls away from the drive-thru bout 2 feet, and then stops to see if the order is correct.
What Is The Drive-Thru Stopper?
Now, the drive-thru is at a standstill. The whole machine comes grinding to a halt. Does the drive-thru stopper have an argument?

Even though it's my pet peeve, I'm going to admit this. It's not a bad idea to check your order, but once you leave the window, stopping two feet past it accomplishes nothing.

You can't back up to get the Boston Cream donut they forgot to give you, so why stop the works? Either check at the window when I don't realize you're doing it, or pull into a parking spot and keep the drive-thru clear.

If we would all apply some logic to the drive-thru, we'd all have a much more satisfying experience. And we could take the drive-thru off the pet peeve list once and for all.
