When it comes to playing the lottery, New Jersey is among the top states in the nation. How much do we spend to be 'in it to win it'?

The website GoBankingRates did the research to determine which states spend the most money on the lottery per capita, and New Jersey turns out to be the 6th highest in the United States.

So, exactly how much do we spend on average each year on playing the lottery. It's exactly $434.98 per person, according to the research, which also determined that 12% of New Jersey residents play the lottery at least once a week.

For the record, the #1 lottery state is Massachusetts, where $933.33 is the average annual lottery bill per person.

We now know we play the lottery a lot., so do we win a lot, too? Well, according to a published report at Lottery Critic, the answer is yes. At the time of it's research, if you combine Powerball and Mega Millions winners, the Garden State is the 5th highest  winning state.

There is something fun about knowing you have a chance, however slim it might be, to win big and live the dream life. And remember, anything can happen in Jersey!
