New Jersey Minimum Wage Going Up in 2022
Many employees in New Jersey working for minimum wage will soon see a bump in their paychecks.
Come January 1, 2022, the hourly rate for most minimum wage workers will increase from $12/hour to $13/hour. By 2024, that rate will jump to $15 an hour, according to 6abc.com.
Employees working for tips see their minimum wage rate bumped up to $5.13/hour come the new year, while agricultural workers go from $10.44/hour to $11.05.
Reportedly, small business and seasonal employers have been given a 2026 deadline by the New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development to increase their hourly way to $15/hour to lessen the strain on their bottom line.
While Delaware goes up by $1.25 an hour on Jan. 1 (from $9.25 to $10.50), the outlook isn't as profitable in Pennsylvania which plans to stick to the federal standard of $7.25/hour, 6abc.com reports.
The Keystone State should do their minimum wage workers a solid and change their tune and offer more per hour considering the cost of gas could be at $4/gallon by next Memorial Day. Just sayin'.
