Study Surprisingly Says New Jersey Is Not Among Best States To Have A Baby

New Jersey is such a great place to raise a family. Yes, there are some financial challenges, but so much of the New Jersey experience makes up for it, especially for our kids.

We have all chosen the Garden State to raise our families for our own specific reasons, and I think most of us are happy with that decision.

We have great schools, nice people, and beauty all around us, but do the statistics back up our Garden State decision?

Recently, a report was released by WalletHub ranking each of the states in the nation to try to determine the best state in America to have a baby. So how did New Jersey do?

It turns out the Garden State did not do nearly as well as we may have thought. If the top 10 was on your radar for us, you're going to be sorely disappointed.

If there is any consolation, it's that we did make the top 20, but just barely. It turns out the Garden State is pretty much in the middle of the pack for the best states to have a baby.

For the record, New Jersey is ranked the 18th best state to have a baby, and here are some of the factors that led to our placement on the list.

While we are ranked 6th in "baby friendliness" and 10th in "family friendliness", our ranking in health care (38th) and cost (47th) really weighed us down.

It is apparent that in this case, as with most situations in New Jersey, the cost is the thing that makes it tough, and severely lowers our rank.
