We all think we work hard in New Jersey. But how hard do we actually work? A recent study may help us to answer that.

The study was conducted by WalletHub, and it ranks all the states in the nation in the order of how hard they work. If you think the Garden State is a hard working place, the results of this study are going to surprise you. And not in a good way.

It turns out their research ranks New Jersey as the 36th hardest working state in the nation, or put in less appealing terms, the 15th least hardest working state in America.

So, how did they determine the rankings? They used ten key metrics in two key dimensions, “direct work factors” and “indirect work factors” and you can get all the details of the methodology of this study at WalletHub.

If you’re looking for some good news, the Garden State did not rank in the bottom 5 in any specific category in the study and, it’s a ranking like ours, it’s not surprising that we didn’t crack the top 5 in any category either.

I feel a strong urge to stick up for all of us in the Garden State on this one. I think we are an extremely hard working state full of people who aren’t afraid to get their hands dirty and would do anything for their family and loved ones.

In my experience there are people here who couldn’t possibly work harder. So, on this one I think New Jersey got the short end of the stick.
