If one publication is right, the top destination in New Jersey for 2020 is about 100 miles from the nightlife of Asbury Park and the sandy beaches of Point Pleasant.

According to Travel Pulse, the top destination for visitors to the Garden State will be Cape May. The beautiful Victorian town always gets a lot of attention in reports like this, and although it is a great place, I think some closer to home towns will give it a run for it's money this year.

We know the towns that immediately come to our mind like Asbury Park and Belmar and Point Pleasant and LBI and Seaside and Red Bank and Spring Lake and Long Branch and Manasquan and of course the list goes on and on.

The bottom line is if travelers are choosing anywhere in New Jersey for 2020 it's good for all of us, and I love Cape May. But my hope is that 2020 brings the bulk of tourists right here to the Jersey Shore. Our local business owners deserve a great season.

Last June NJ Monthly took a look at some of the most fun destinations in the state and the Jersey Shore is well represented. Here's to hoping 2020 brings a great tourist season to all of us!
