In 2025, there were two snake bites reported, one in Sussex County and one on the Palisades Cliffs. The Sussex event involved an eastern massasauga rattlesnake, and the one in Palisades was a copperhead.
Two bear incidents got major press coverage in 2025 in New Jersey. A female black bear went into the Vernon Dollar Store, injuring a 90-year-old woman (minor injuries), as well as a German Shepherd.
In a separate incident, a Ring security camera captured a video of a 6-year-old girl who was face-to-face with a black bear in her Sparta driveway. Fortunately, the bear got scared and fled.

There was a series of coyote attacks in late 2025 in Bergen County, including reports of attacks while residents were walking their dogs, and one involving a bite in a resident's backyard.

There was even a report of a fox attack in 2025. A Montvale woman was bitten on the leg in an incident that occurred in December.
One of the more surprising animal events of 2025 involved a deer that managed to get into the Marshalls in Brick, before a brave customer steered it out of the building.
Bobcat Sightings On The Rise In New Jersey
While there were no documented cases of bobcat attacks in New Jersey in 2025, sightings of them have increased, and the sightings have reached beyond the normal areas of Sussex, Warren, Passaic, and Morris Counties.
