Save Barnegat Bay has hosted numerous beach clean ups throughout the Jersey Shore over the years. A few have even been fundraisers for local nonprofits!

But since the pandemic hit, it has been against CDC guidelines to gather groups of people together to clean because of the need for social distancing.

So now, Save Barnegat Bay is adjusting things for the month of June so the clean-ups can still continue!

One of the volunteers, Leigh Simpson, has ventured throughout the Jersey Shore on his own to pick up trash and now, he is encouraging you to do the same!

Save Barnegat Bay has started a Do Your Own Individual Clean Up Facebook Event Page and here is how it works.

Grab a garbage bag, grab a face mask and start picking up trash that you find around the Jersey Shore!

Save Barnegat Bay urges everyone who wants to clean to continue to practice social distancing by wearing personal protective equipment and to remain at least 6 feet apart from others.

The organization is also sending shout outs to people who go out and clean on their own.

To be featured on their Facebook page, just send photos of your clean up, the number of trash bags you filled and the number of volunteers that helped to Graceanne at education@savebarnegatbay.org.

The Watershed Institute is also tracking clean ups that take place across NJ. To log your clean up, CLICK HERE.

Remember, we have one Earth. We have to take care of it.
