As we work our way through the first week of August, we realize there is still time to squeeze plenty of summer in, but a good chunk of Summer 2013 is behind us. So, what's been the biggest memory of summer so far?

The first thing that came to my mind is that really long heat wave. How can you forget finding out the heat index is 112 or 113 degrees, and for days at a time, too. I remember hot days and weeks at the Jersey Shore in past years but I'm not sure I can recall a time when it was that hot for that long.

I also will remember both the progress we've made since Sandy, and the constant visual reminders of how far we have to go. While many tourist destinations are bringing much needed money to our shore towns, many still struggle to put their life back together.

Hopefully, we'll all have great memories of family and friends and barbeques and pools and beaches and hot dogs and hamburgers. All those things that make the Jersey Shore great in the summertime. And if you haven't gotten those barbeques in, there's still time!

But it's certainly not a full Jersey Shore summer. I guess we all have to come to terms with the fact that it won't be until we can all put Sandy behind us, and that's not going to be for a few summers.
