Well, it passed. The ordinance restricting the sale of alcohol at bars and restaurants after midnight in Point Pleasant Beach goes into effect July 1.
What about the second ordinance that would allow bars to pay to stay open until 2 a.m.?
The Point Pleasant Beach Borough Council introduced an ordinance on Tuesday night that would restrict the sale of alcohol to midnight, unless licensed businesses pay an extra fee, which would allow them to sell until 2 a.m.
It's a measure meant to "maintain quality of life" but...it's a terrible idea.
As reported previously, Point Pleasant Beach has been trying to ban the sale of alcohol in the town after midnight, unless establishment's agree to pay a fee per patron. It looks like this could become a reality.
