We love our coffee at the Jersey Shore. But who thought our love for it would be enough to put it between us and Santa.

I wouldn't have believed it unless I saw it with my own eyes, and then I took a picture of it so you could see it with your own eyes. If you're keeping score at home, it's coffee 20 and Santa 0.

Here's when and how it happened. It was a few years ago while I was broadcasting the morning show live from Freehold Raceway Mall on Black Friday (which I'm doing again this year, and I hope to see you there).

That year, we were doing the show from the upper level just above center court and I needed some coffee, so I looked down to check out the Starbucks line to decide if I could make it back before the song ended.

That's when I saw it. The Starbucks line was right near Santa and there was no denying it. Starbucks was more popular than Santa. And it wasn't even close. Not even one person on the Santa line. And Starbucks was packed. Is this what it had come to at the Jersey Shore?

Of course, these days the Santa at Santa HQ at Freehold Raceway Mall doesn't have Starbucks to deal with and has some awesome new things for all the kids to see, so all is right with thew big guy.

But that moment in time will always be a reminder to me that if there is one thing you never mess with, it's Jersey Shore residents and the path to their coffee. Not even S. Claus himself can do that.
