The state attorney general's office is giving us all a strong reminder about the dangers of texting and driving in the form of the U Drive. U Text. U Pay campaign.

Authorities in towns have been on the lookout for texting and driving since the campaign began on April 1st, and according to patch.com, the campaign continues thru mid April.

We all know the dangers of texting while driving, and yet many around the Shore can't seem to resist the temptation. Officials are hoping that the stiff fines lessen that temptation.

First time offenders will be fined up to $400, and repeat offenders could face points on their insurance and fines that could be double the first offender penalty. In New Jersey, last year's campaign resulted in over 13,000 violations for "illegal phone use", according to the article.
