Would you like the ability to shop and pay for your groceries without stopping at the checkout line?

Some supermarkets are trying this out across the country. I already knew of Amazon Fresh stores with this feature, and USA Today shared that Kroger stores are testing them out in Ohio. Here's how it works, you pick up an item, place it in your cart, and the Smart Cart keeps track of what you're purchasing. When you're all done, you just pay with a credit card on the cart's screen. And that's IT!

Since there are no Kroger or Amazon Fresh stores here in Ocean County, it's unclear when or if this technology will come to your local grocery store. But, would you like to see this at ShopRite, Stop & Shop, or maybe even Walmart?

I think this is a pretty cool idea. It saves time, and it cuts down on contact with other people, which is important, given the current health situation. The only downside to this is the potential of job cuts from not needing cashiers. But, then again, self-checkout didn't completely eliminate cashiers. So maybe stores could give you the option of using the smart cart to shop, or shopping the old fashioned way with a cashier.

Would you like to see smart carts make their way to Ocean County Grocery Stores?
