Action is finally being taken concerning this dangerous intersection near the Allenwood General Store and the bike path crossing.

You literally take your life in your hands on some days when trying to cross over this intersection at Atlantic Ave., Lakewood/Allenwood Road and Ramshorn Drive in Wall Township because of the sharp angle of the street and the amount of traffic.

Now a traffic light is going up!

This will be a Monmouth County project. An initial construction meeting taking place today with the company awarded the contract and then work will begin immediately, starting with the relocation of the utilities.

The Edgar Felix Memorial Bikeway crossing will be relocated farther away from the intersection to make it safer...I'm not sure how that will work but I sure hope they can make that bike crossing easier.

The completion of this project could take 6 months, but that also depends on the weather.

The blog I wrote about this last year went viral with locals complaining about how much we need a light at this intersection. To read the original story, CLICK HERE.

And speaking of sharp angle intersections....has anyone tried to turn onto Belmar Boulevard (heading toward the beach) from Gully Road.? That's another scary spot at periods of peak traffic.
