Jersey Shore Ice Cream Shop Showcases a Bold New Jersey Flavor
Are you an adventurous eater?
If I had to have a catchphrase when it came to eating it would probably be this: "well, I'll try anything at least once"
I am a firm believer that you have to put yourself out of your comfort zone from time to time in order to really experience life.
Especially when it comes to food.
At the recommendation of others I've tried pickles and peanut butter, slim jims with icing, and saltines with mayo, just to name a few of the stranger combos I've had.
I think I may have finally met my match though.
I read the description for this food, and immediately thought nope! Those things can NOT go together.
It was a combination that seemed to team up textures, flavors, and food groups that just don't mesh.
The creators of this dish though say that it's their love letter to New Jersey.
Now, before we get the scoop on this wild menu item let me ask you this; what are the flavors of New Jersey?
I may be a new resident, but I've been coming to New Jersey for most of my life and can say without a shadow of a doubt New Jerseyians loves their produce, Italian food, Pork Roll, and Ice Cream.
Separately, they're all fantastic, but, one New Jersey restaurant thinks some of these flavors would be even better together.
Enter 'The Jerz'.
So what is the Jerz?
The Jerz, according to the Patch.com article is a new flavor of ice cream from The WooHoo, a local Beach Haven ice cream shop and restaurant.
It's ice cream that has a sweet corn base and combines candied pork roll with blueberries.
My first thought was there was no way I'd try this.
But then I saw a picture of it and honestly, it kind of looks delicious.
The WooHoo is also known for coming up with some more 'out there' combinations when it comes to ice cream.
We've done a clam chowder ice cream; last year we did a lobster roll ice cream. We've done a spicy ice cream where you've had to sign a waiver. We've done a bunch of different things. -Megan Kilroy, The Woo Hoo
I'd say this flavor definitely checks off a few boxes on the adventurous eating bingo card.
As of now, the flavor is only available at the Beach Haven location but could possibly make its way to the Neptune Market in Harvey Cedars.
So, how many scoops are you getting?
