Did You Name The Monmouth County Building?

Were you able to identify the historic Monmouth County building that we put in the spotlight yesterday?

We gave you some clues that we thought would help, so let's recap those for you to give you a last chance guess at this Freehold building...Oops, was that another clue? I think it was.

Here are the rest, and today we'll include an explanation for each clue, which will hopefully help you even more.

Clue #1 John Barclay 1686. That's the year the Proprietors of East Jersey sold 500 acres to Mr. Barclay.

Clue #2 The price tag was $32,000 in 1911. Just over 100 years ago, this land sold for that amount and was purchased by Charles Oakley, Jr.

Clue #3 National Register of Historic Places. The Oakley family successfully had the property listed on the National Register in 1994.

If you haven't figured it out by now, we are talking about the Oakley Farmhouse. You can get a lot more info about this historical spot at the Freehold township website.  The farmhouse is located in Freehold at the corner of Wemrock Rd. and Oakley Dr.
