Health Tips To Help Avoid Dehydration And Heat Exhaustion
This time of year at the Jersey Shore is full of fun and memories. it's also the hottest time of year, and dehydration and heat exhaustion are always a concern.
We recently turned to our friend, Dr. Nelson lee, a family medicine physician at Hackensack Meridian Health Medical Group to talk about staying safe and healthy throughout another hot Jersey Shore summer.
Here are some of the key points to know about heat exhaustion that came up during our discussion with Dr. Lee.
Sweating is good. It our body's way of cooling itself.
Heat exhaustion is when the body can't cool itself down.
Although it varies person to person, some symptoms of heat exhaustion are nausea, vomiting, headaches and muscle cramps.
In addition to staying hydrated, some ways to avoid heat exhaustion are stay in the shade, bring an umbrella, avoid excess layers of clothing.
Limit physical activity.
