Two local residents have come together to help our area not only to recover from the storm, but to collect gifts for the holidays.

Dana Connelly from SquanStrong (check it out on Facebook) and Jeff Terry, owner of Gee Gee's in Manasquan (devastated by Sandy), have teamed up to help those in need this holiday season.

They're holding a Toy Drive at the Recreation DCI building on Atlantic Avenue (between North Main Street and Osborn Ave.) in Manasquan, and are asking you to drop off things for ages newborn to senior citizen!

Toys are great for little kids, but they are also asking for gift cards...Bed, Bath and Beyond is good for a homeowner that has to replace linens, etc., and Best Buy gift cards are great for teens.

The toy drive is currently underway for you to drop off an unwrapped gift. These gifts will be given to families in need in the Manasquan sending district which includes Belmar, Sea Girt, Spring Lake, Spring Lake Heights, Brielle, as well as other areas of surrounding towns affected/destroyed by the hurricane.

A special thanks to Quinderellas in Manasquan for supplying so many toys and serving as a temporary drop-off point when it was needed.

Jeff, Dana, and the volunteers will use the gift cards to buy specifically-needed or requested items, or give them to the appropriate families for the holidays.

And - no pressure Jeff - but it will be a bright day for our kids when we know Gee Gee's is rebuilt and we can make more joyous memories at the beach!
