Now THIS is what I call a fun event! At dusk! With lots of neon! Whether you walk or run, it's for a great cause.SquanStrong is hosting a Neon Fun Run/Walk to benefit our shore communities. And now, this fun run will raise scholarship money, too.

So get your glow on and light up the path along the Manasquan beach front. You will glow down to the Inlet and back, followed by a crazy-fun glow party after the race.

There will be prizes for the first to cross, best costume, and most aglow!

The Neon Run takes place the evening of Saturday, Oct. 17th, beginning and ending at Sea Watch Beach (Ocean and 1st) in Manasquan, start time 6 pm.

Online registration by Oct. 3rd is $25 with a t-shirt. or $35 online registration after Oct. 3rd and on the day of the event.

T-shirt pickup is at Manasquan Beach House on Friday, Oct. 16th from 5 - 8 pm and Sandy Seagull on race day, Oct. 17th from 4:30 pm - 6 pm. The event starts at 6 pm and the after party wraps at 9 pm.

SquanStrong stretches far beyond the Manasquan zip code. Since Superstorm Sandy, they have donated from Asbury Park to Atlantic City and even helped in Oklahoma when needed after the tornado devastation. SquanStrong prides itself on helping those in need, no matter what town you're in.

SquanStrong has stocked refrigerators, moved families, rented U-Hauls, cleaned up, cleared out, packed up, moved out, paid families' bills, purchased appliances, babysat kids, fed thousands, and supplied Thanksgiving dinners, Christmas dinners, holiday gifts, and paid for school lunch accounts. Dana Connelly, Founder of SquanStrong, says volunteers get paid in hugs and high fives, not donation money. They save donation money for those in need.

This is the second annual Neon Run and SquanStrong is excited to announce that  a portion of the funds raised by this year's Run, as well as Neon runs in the years to come, will go toward a scholarship fund.

After the Neon Run, applications will be available to high school seniors within the community. The Neon Run Scholarship will be awarded to a current high school senior entering college who has demonstrated academic success while serving the community in which he or she lives.

So grab your glow sticks and come out for an evening of fun and support your community!
