Severe storms in the Mississippi and Alabama have produced strong winds, hail and tornadoes and, tragically, news reports say the weather has resulted in 28 deaths overall, according to accuweather.com.

That weather system is predicted to affect the east next, but how will it affect Monmouth and Ocean Counties? The weather will certainly be affected here but it looks like the most serious threat today is to people in parts of Michigan to areas of Gulf coast and Carolinas and southern Virginia. Tomorrow the storms will affect Pennsylvania, northern Virginia, Maryland and Delaware, according to accuweather.com.

For our area, Alan Kasper says we could get heavy rain tonight and more heavy rain along with wind tomorrow, and there's a chance of showers Thursday as well.We also have a Coastal Flood Advisory in effect from 7pm tonight until 3am Wednesday.
