In addition to everything else that is consuming our minds, allergy sufferers at the Jersey Shore can add high pollen counts to the list.

We all know that this is the time of year that allergy sufferers at the Jersey Shore know can be tough, but this year we are all super focused on every cough we hear, so there is an added stress.

The projections for the next few days is not good around the area. Tree pollen, of course, is the culprit this time of the year, and it is expected to be high today and after a brief drop to moderate tomorrow, and possibly Saturday, it remains high through the middle of next week at least, according to the Weather Channel's Allergy Tracker.

Now remember, there are distinct differences between the COVID-19 symptoms and allergies. The Family Allergy & Asthma website lays out the differences, according to the CDC.

There is relief expected next Thursday as the tree pollen level will drop back down to moderate and stay there, at least for a few days. So have your allergy medicine handy and be prepared.

Welcome to May at the Jersey Shore, even though it's a May like none of us have ever seen before.
