It was a brutal winter with visits from the polar vortex and constant cold, and this summer we've already seen our share of severe thunderstorm and flash flood warnings and watches and high winds. But is this really extreme weather or are we just extra worried since Sandy?

I don't know about you, but I take more careful notice every time there are weather statements, or even just when it seems extra windy. It would be totally understandable for all of us to be on edge after Sandy, right? So which is it. Extreme weather or extreme worry?

I asked our meteorologist Alan Kasper if the weather we've been having is any more unusual than any other years in the past. His answer, "no". Alan believes the weather we've been experiencing is not really different than other years, and that we may just be a little extra sensitive. That's a relief, but who can blame us for being concerned, right?
