As I was driving through Toms River recently I noticed some new construction and it's prime real estate right on Route 37 at Lowell Avenue. The sight of a former nursery right across from Wawa in Toms River, this corner has been a plant nursery for quite some time and now it's gone?

According to a banner hanging at the construction site, it looks like the spot is going to be a ”drive-thru” grocery, bakery and coffee shop. It's a franchise known as Farm Stores.

This is an interesting idea and I was just talking about how ”drive-thru” is becoming hugely popular during the pandemic. People seem to like the "social distance" aspect of the drive-thru as well as the convenience. Especially for parents with little ones, they can grab their product and go without all the shuffling of bringing kids into the store. I have not seen a ”Farm Store” here in our area, but are there some already? Have you ever shopped at one of these franchise locations?

So the question is, is this area on Route 37 at Lowell Avenue a good location for this kind of store? There is a Super Wawa across the street, but that is not a ”drive-thru”. I think a factor will also be the upkeep of the store. People like a clean and neat drive-thru. Look at the area drive-thru’s.....Dunkin, Starbucks, Chik-Filet etc all look good and keep their product and appearance looking great.

Do YOU like this idea? or should something else go there?
