New Jersey has some of the most amazing restaurants, clubs, and attractions you'll find anywhere, so it would stand to reason that the opportunities for singles would be abundant in the Garden State.
A study was recently done with the goal of ranking each state in the nation to find out which was the best state in the nation for singles, and the results might surprise you.
Some of the categories scored to come up with WalletHub's results include median annual household income, crime rate, movie theaters per capita, and online dating opportunities.
The bad news is New Jersey is not as high as I thought it would rank. I figured we were a lock for the top 5 in this one, but that wasn't the case.
The good news is the Garden State is pretty close to the top 5, coming in at #7 on the list, and that's something to be pretty proud of.
Our highest category in the study turned out to be dating opportunities, and in that category, we ranked 7th. We didn't do as well in dating economics, landing at the #22 spot in that category.
The nearby state that ranked better overall were Pennsylvania (5) and New York which ranked second best in the nation.
The best state in America for singles, according to this study, is California, which rode its #1 ranking in the "Romantic and Fun" category right to the top of the list. New Jersey by the way came in 8th in the same category.
