Now that the holiday season is officially here, we have to dig into the topic of holiday candy here in New Jersey.

This is not exactly the time of year that we look toward to lose any weight. All we really do around New Jersey during the holiday season is shop and eat.

And a lot of the stuff we're eating isn't exactly the healthiest for us. After all, this is the holiday season, so bring on the candy.

I thought it would be interesting to find out which Christmas candy is our favorite here in the Garden State, and the results really did surprise me. I think they'll surprise you, too.

So we did a little research and found the top Christmas candy in each state in America, according to a website known as Candy Store.

I'm going to boggle your mind with which candies are not the Christmas favorite of New Jersey residents.

You won't find chocolates Santas, Reese's Holiday mini cups, Holiday M&M's, or even candy canes at the top of our list here in the Garden State.

According to this report, we are the only state in the nation with Skittles as our favorite Christmas candy. Wait, what?

Do they even make holiday Skittles? We checked and they don't really, although they do have some holiday packaging around the regular Skittles.

If it makes you feel any better, candy canes are New Jersey's third favorite Christmas candy.
