Ocean City Resident Running 100 Miles for Charity
For two years, Manahawkin Applebee's manager and Ocean City resident Richard McLeary has run 100 miles in an effort to raise money for Ocean of Love, a charity that supports Ocean County children and families dealing with cancer. Now, the tradition continues.
Six years ago, McCleary was 135 pounds overweight and experienced a health scare. This motivated him to start eating right and get in shape. He quickly started training for distance running.
For the past 9 years, Richard, and his Applebee’s of Manahawkin team members have been raising money for Ocean of Love.
This year's trek begins Saturday at 8 a.m. at the Clifton Applebees. Richard will then travel south, finishing at his Applebee's in Manahawkin Sunday at 12 p.m.
McLeary will make stops at the Applebee's in Middletown, Ocean Township, Howell and Lacey along the way.
