Once just a Rutgers Business School competition-winning business plan, a small food stand which opened in 2014 in Belmar has now become a foodie favorite at the Jersey Shore.

The rapidly growing company is expanding again, planning a sixth location in Red Bank.

I'm talking Playa Bowls.

This place is all about healthy, offering fruit-based bowls of deliciousness better known as acai bowls. (Pro tip: It's pronounced ah-sigh-EE. Don't be the person to ask for an 'akay' or 'asay' bowl.)

If you've never heard of acai bowls, you're definitely not alone, but think of them like really thick smoothies you eat in a bowl, topped with fresh fruits and goodies like granola, peanut butter, honey, or Nutella.

They also make bowls with a base of pitaya (dragonfruit) instead of acai, and then there's my personal favorite, the new coconut bowls.

Not only are they refreshing, delicious, and relatively healthy...but they are flippin beautiful too.

In addition to the bowls, you can get fresh smoothies, juices, coffee, and other yummy treats.

They currently have locations in Long Branch (in Pier Village), Manasquan, and Bay Head, plus a standing location in Belmar, and a Belmar-based food truck. All open daily at 8 a.m.

Much to my delight, they are planning a sixth location in downtown Red Bank, at 14 W. Front St., just west of Broad Street. (Yessssss.)

The newest location is expected to open in September. I may be the first person in line.
