Every weekday this summer, I plan on getting off of work, changing into my bathing suit, grabbing my beach chair, and relaxing on the beach. If the weather is nice, that's going to be my plan pretty much every day this summer. Living the life, right?!
I was pleasantly startled to be called a quirky nickname that only Belmar locals know. I have heard this nickname be used only a few times before and this time it was directed towards me. Is it an insult?!
It's right around this time I start daydreaming about summer at the Jersey Shore. At first, the winter is cool, but when it's 5 degrees outside, we all wish it was the summer...
My alarm went off at 4:30 am, I think I clicked the snooze button a few times but going back to sleep was not an option. I rolled out of bed and forced myself to experience a beautiful morning in Belmar.
It's safe to say that I'm not the sexiest person in the world. I'm no Leonardo DiCaprio, girls don't throw themselves at me so I was baffled to hear what was shouted at me on Belmar Beach. It was one of the greatest backhanded compliments I ever received.
May 18th is my birthday and I couldn't have asked for a better start to the day. I woke up early, squeezed into my wetsuit, and watched the sunrise while surfing waves. I was even fortunate to see a handful of dolphins jumping in and out of the ocean about 50 yards in front of me. Witnessing happy dolphins is special and it was the perfect birthday present! I was at my normal Belmar 20th Ave. surfing spot and it was simply one of those mornings that makes you feel thankful to be living at the Jersey Shore. With that, a HUGE congratulations to Belmar for being nationally recognized by Men's Journal.
This is the type of news I love writing about! Earlier this week I wrote about how the Ocean County Fair is getting canceled, but for this article, we can celebrate the "reopening" of a classic Jersey Shore event.
