I can't speak for everyone or every place at the Jersey Shore, but what I saw Friday morning at the Asbury Park Boardwalk was inspiring.

We have a lot of new rules to learn and we have a lot of new habits to get used to. We have a lot of apprehension and a ton of tension that we are all dealing with in our own personal way.

But one thing that nothing, no matter how serious, frightening, concerning or dramatic it might be, can dampen is the spirit of a Jersey Shore resident. The heart and soul of the Jersey Shore is stronger than ever.

This weekend, in my eyes proved we can adapt to anything, whether we like it or not. And no matter what, we will always care for our families, care for our friends, and care for total strangers. It's just who we are.

One thing we heard over and over again at the beginning of this pandemic is that we will come out stronger on the other side. and what might have simply been encouraging words are now coming to life in front of our eyes.

I know my visit to the Asbury Park Boardwalk was just a few hours at the earliest part of this holiday weekend, and I'm sure we'll hear some stories about the weekend that will fly in the face of what I saw, but to me, it confirmed what I always knew. Jersey Strong is not just a slogan.

So, Jersey Shore, thank you for being you, continue to be you, and know that just when I thought I couldn't love our area and people any more than I already did, you stepped up your game again. Keep up the great work. You should all be proud of yourselves.
