The Great Equalizer – Cocktail of the Week
After today's ruling from the Supreme Court, I'm all about smiles, rainbows, and LOVE.
And there's nothing I love more than a fabulous cocktail to kick off the weekend...so let's do this!
To celebrate equality for all, I present The Great Equalizer.
Note: This is a LAYERED cocktail. The key is to pour the ingredients, in the order listed, very slowly into the glass, over the back of a spoon.
Ingredients:
- .75 oz. plain vodka or rum
- .75 oz. coconut vodka or rum
- 1 oz. pineapple juice
- 1 oz. orange juice
- .5 oz grenadine
- .5 oz. blue curacao
Fill a rocks glass with a few ice cubes. Using the layering technique, start with the grenadine, then add the pineapple juice, orange juice, each vodka/rum, then top with the blue curacao. If you do it right, it will look like a rainbow!
Feel free to adjust the amount of each ingredient to suit your tastes!
If you don't want to bother with the spoon layering, you could also do a frozen version of this...make a standard pina colada, divided into 4 batches. Blend one with grenadine, one with orange juice, one with melon liqueur, and one with blue curacao. In a hurricane glass, slowly pour each batch in according to color...the frozen drinks are much easier to layer!
Here's to loving who you love...and a fabulous weekend to all!
