I have seen amazing generosity in this great state. People helping people is just what we do in New Jersey, but you wouldn't know it from a recent survey.

Gallup did a survey of how likely people are to donate their money and their time. Two thirds of people in New Jersey said they had made a recent monetary donation, which was right up there with the top states.

Where we didn't do so well was donating time. In a way, that's no surprise. We are so busy here in the Garden State. Between our schedule, family commitments, work responsibilities, traffic, and all the other things that have us begging for a 25 hour day, donating time is a tough challenge.

According to Gallup, 66% of us have made a money donation in the past month, but only 38% have donated time. 32% of people in New Jersey say they have done both in the past month.

The poll was conducted by Gallup in the last half of 2013, according to npr.com.
