Did you ever wonder how New Jersey ranks when it comes to winning Powerball tickets? There's good news and there's bad news.

If you play Powerball in the Garden State, it turns out that we're only ranked 21st when it comes to all time winners, according to Yahoo Finance. But wait just a minute. That ranking can be pretty deceiving.

The list contains all time winners and Powerball started in 1992, but New Jersey only began to participate in 2002. And we seem to do better than some other states that started before us.

As a matter of fact, we've had 7 winners and so has South Carolina, but they started 8 years before we did, so it sounds like we've got a little luck on our side. and Montana has only 4 wins and they started in 1992.

The state with the most Powerball winners is Indiana with 39 since 1992, and if you're wondering what the closest big winner is, you only have to go to Pennsylvania. They're ranked 5th with 17 winners since 2002.

When you do the math, if you consider winners per year, we're right there with Pennsylvania, so I guess the luck is with us after all!
