Kentucky Apple – Cocktail of the Week
The Kentucky Derby is this weekend, and aside from the fancy hats, half the fun is the fabulous cocktails!
If the traditional Mint Julep isn't your thing, try this cocktail of the week!
The Kentucky Apple will still feature the traditional Bourbon, but in a way that's more palatable for those who are new to dark liquors!
Apple cider is a lot more flavorful than apple juice, but if you can't find cider this time of year, the juice will work fine.
Ingredients:
- 2 oz. Bourbon whiskey
- 3 oz. fresh apple cider (or juice)
- .5 oz lemon juice
- splash of sprite, ginger ale, or club soda (optional)
- mint sprig, to garnish
- apple slice, to garnish
You can pour all ingredients over crushed ice, like a mint julep, or shake with ice and pour into a rocks glass. Top with soda if you want a little fizz!
Switch it up:
Add another layer of flavor by using a maple-flavored Bourbon!
Use more or less Bourbon, cider, or lemon to suit your tastes.
Muddle a little mint into the Bourbon for an added touch of freshness!
*Please drink responsibly.*
