Papa Bear – Cocktail of the Week
This weekend is all about celebrating awesome fathers, and so naturally this week's cocktail is in honor of my Daddy!
Now, my dad rarely drinks. Chances are, if he has an adult beverage in his hand, he's at a wedding, and he's drinking a rum and Coke. (No Pepsi allowed.)
I can also hear him talking about getting the good soda from some place in Brooklyn where they made cherry Coke with the syrup...
Keeping that in mind, I present the Papa Bear:
Ingredients:
- 1.5 oz white rum, chilled
- 6 oz. Coke, chilled (accept no substitutions)
- .25 oz. Cherry syrup (like by Torani)
- 1 scoop good vanilla ice cream (Pops would want Haagen Dazs)
- maraschino cherry, to garnish (optional)
Add the ice cream to a tall glass. Top with rum, Coke, and cherry syrup. Garnish with a cherry if desired. Enjoy!
Switch it up:
Try using a flavored rum, like coconut, vanilla, or banana.
Use a different soda, like root beer, cream soda, or even lemon-lime.
Try different ice cream flavors -- chocolate would be a nice twist!
Use more or less rum, soda, or ice cream to suit your tastes.
Happy Father's Day to all the dads...and most especially to mine!
