I am always sensitive to New Jersey's reputation. I think we get a bad rap all the time, and while I was doing a little research, I found one survey that certainly doesn't help us improve our reputation.

The survey was reported at businessinsider.com last year, and the only news for New Jersey in it is bad news. A  bunch of questions were asked of people throughout the nation and here are some of the highlights, or more accurately lowlights for the Garden State.

We are in the top 6 states for "weirdest accents", only behind Massachusetts, Louisiana, Alabama, Minnesota and New York. And the insulting results certainly don't end there for New Jersey.

We are second only to Kansas in the "worst scenery" category, which in my opinion is a joke. Maybe the people polled never do anything but head from the airport into the city. If that's the case, then they've missed out on some of the best beaches, towns and scenery in the nation.

And when it comes to rudeness, no state is worse than New Jersey, except for New York. They may be right on this one, because the more I read about this, the more I am getting ready to say something pretty rude.

We even make the top 10 for states that people would like to see kicked out of the U.S. entirely.

I blame a lot of this on national comedians and their writers plus TV and movie writers who are seemingly too busy to come up with some new and creative jokes and opt for the lazy, easy, obvious and very old New Jersey punchlines. Seriously? You can't do better than that?

I'd love to see New Jersey get the credit it deserves. We're a really great, beautiful state full of amazing people who give until it hurts time and time again for people all over this nation when a crisis or tragedy arises. Yea, we have our moments of rudeness...but you try driving on the Parkway every day.
