Starbucks Debuts Beer-Flavored Lattes
Go home Starbucks, you're drunk.
The coffee giant known for everyone's favorite flavored lattes is expanding their horizons. You thought Salted Caramel Mochas and Caramel Flan flavors were edgy? Meet the Dark Barrel Latte, a new beer-flavored addition to the lineup.
Currently only offered in test markets in Ohio and Florida, the Dark Barrel Latte uses a 'stout-flavored sauce' which is supposed to taste like 'roasted malt.' It's topped with whipped cream and dark caramel sauce.
Think Guinness meets your morning Venti...without the judgment that comes with actually drinking Guinness at 8 a.m.
Considering the creamy, chocolatey undertones that stouts tend to have, I kinda get it, but I don't know if I'd actually like it.
I find stouts to be the most versatile when it comes to combining beers with odd things...for example, beer + ice cream sounds kinda gross, but a float with a chocolate or cream stout and dark chocolate ice cream? Really good.
That said, if I'm drinking something beer-flavored...I'm gonna want the 'kick' that goes with it.
They do get points for trying to be creative though!
