Make A Difference! The Going Green Food Drive Is This Weekend In Asbury Park, New Jersey
One of the things I love about my job is the exciting summer broadcasts we have on the Asbury Park Boardwalk. Yes, we will be back at our boardwalk studio starting Memorial Day Weekend!! The broadcasts are entertaining, the weather is usually great and many community leaders stop by to say hello. Last summer, I had the great pleasure of meeting Kim Sambade. She is the Director of Development & Volunteer Services for Coastal Habitat for Humanity. Kim is a tremendous community leader and just recently she sent me information about a wonderful food drive that is happening this weekend in Asbury Park! It's the perfect time to love your neighbor and make a difference! All the details about the 4th Love Your Neighbor food drive are below:
"Let’s make a difference together and share fresh foods with our community! Join Coastal Habitat for Humanity to help local residents in need Saturday, May 1st, and Sunday, May 2nd. This weekend’s Love Your Neighbor Food Drive will focus on donations from the garden to help our partner families and deliver a rainbow of healthy eating options. Staff and volunteers will be collecting perishable items such as fruits, vegetables, and potatoes as well as non-perishable items such as canned foods, dry pasta, cereal, granola bars, juice boxes, peanut butter, etc.
This will be the 4th Coastal Habitat for Humanity Love Your Neighbor Food Drive. Coastal Habitat for Humanity along with our collaborative community partner, the Community Affairs and Resource Center, have distributed bags of food to over 200 local families. Local supporters of all ages come out to volunteer, donate, sort, and deliver food to families, together we make a difference!
When delivering food bags, a family is not only provided with food but feels loved and supported in a time of need. These needs continue and as a housing organization with a mission to create a world where everyone has a safe, affordable place to live and take pride in, it is also important that we continue to help in any way we can. Stop in to drop off food and to check out April Showers Bring May Flowers and take 25% off all things floral this weekend. Donations will be accepted outside the Coastal Habitat for Humanity ReStore located at 1105 Memorial Drive between 3rd & 4th Avenues in Asbury Park."
They will be accepting donations during ReStore hours: Saturday, May 1st from 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. & Sunday, May 2nd from 12:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. Masks and social distance protocol will be required. For more information about Coastal Habitat for Humanity programs, the Asbury Park ReStore or to become a volunteer please reach out to Kim Sambade, Director of Development & Volunteer Services via email at firstname.lastname@example.org or by phone 732-898-4094.
