Just about every Jersey Shore resident will make a New Year's resolution for 2020, but before you do, you might want to absorb some statistics.

If you are planning on making a change in 2020, and you're hoping your New Year's resolution will kick start it, the data may suggest you shouldn't put that much pressure on the resolution.

Research by Strava suggests the last day of your resolution will be January 12th.

A University of Scranton study says only 8% of people reach their resolution goals, meaning more than 9 in 10 don't. They say only 80% are able to stick to their resolution.

The main reason for the lack of success is considered to be unrealistic expectations, and that makes sense. it makes us all feel good to think big and have lofty goals, but those optimistic ideas often lead to a less than desired goal.
