The cool part of Chefs Extraordinaire is that the great chefs participating in this event chose to work with kids from Common Ground Grief Center in Manasquan to create dishes in memory of the loved ones they lost.
Chefs Extraordinaire is being hosted by two local high school students who are members of Common Ground Grief Center and both lost their dads. I am so proud of Kristina Falletta and Peter Palmieri for taking over the hosting duties. Although I am a huge supporter of Common Ground and have so very much enjoyed hosting this event for the past two years, Kristina and Peter really represent what Common Ground is all about.
Which brings us to the reason for the third annual Chefs Extraordinaire. It's to raise money and awareness for Common Ground Grief Center, a safe place for kids and teens to share their feelings with others just like them who have experienced the loss of a sibling, parent, family member, or close friend. Common Ground is a place for them to grieve. It's a place for them to begin the healing process. It's a place for them to express their emotions while knowing there are others just like them suffering through the same kind of loss who can truly understand and support them.
Common Ground provides services AT NO COST to families that need it. That's why it's so important to help support this great non-profit organization.
