Learning how to cook a few dishes from a couple of awesome local chefs is good. Being able to taste and try all those dishes when they're done is better...

Doing all of that AND having it benefit locals in need? Well that's best of all.

Mike Jurusz, one of my absolute favorite local chefs, is teaming up with the equally awesome Joe Leone (of Joe Leone's in Point Pleasant) for Chef Mike's Holiday Extravaganza Cooking School.

The event will take place at Chef Mike's ABG in South Seaside Park on Wednesday, December 18th from 6-9 p.m.

Each chef will do a cooking demonstration of three different dishes, then they'll pair up for fusion dish, for a total of 7 recipes. They'll pull guests up from the audience to help out, and even better, everyone who attends gets to try every dish that's made.

Bartender to the stars (humor me) and chief ABG barman Johnny Longlegs will also demonstrate 4 different cocktails, which will also be available to try.

Tickets are $45, and a portion of the proceeds will go to The Foodbank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties. They are also asking attendees to bring non-perishable food donations, all of which will be donated to the Foodbank.

A representative from the Foodbank will be on hand to talk about their mission and the ways people can help.

There will be gift baskets and prizes up for grabs as well, and anyone who's met Chef Mike knows the night is sure to be a lot of fun.

There are still seats available. To get yours, call Chef Mike's ABG at 732-854-1588.
